Why is the glossary important?
Gillie uses several professional terms that have precise meanings. A shared glossary ensures that we talk about the same things in the same way—especially in team communication, alert acknowledgment comments, and documentation.
Alert
Alert is an observation generated by Gillie’s artificial intelligence that prompts a professional to assess the client's situation or take action. The term alarm may also be used for an alert.

Measurement
Measurement is an individual observation or value about a client. A measurement can be, for example:
- blood pressure reading, weight, or blood sugar
- documentation of a home care visit
- door opening or bed sensor status
- RAI assessment score
- successful medication dispensing or deviation by the medication robot
Measurements have a timestamp, source information, and a measurement group to which they belong.
Measurement Group
Measurement Group is a set of related measurements displayed together. The measurement group also determines on which tab clients appear in the client list.
In practice, Gillie’s view configuration groups measurements into main groups such as:
- vital — vital measurements (blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, temperature, etc.).
- person — person-related measurements and assessments (e.g., RAI scores, weight, BMI).
- device — device status notifications and device errors.
The groups and their contents used by your organization are defined on the administrator side and may differ from those mentioned above.
Tag
Tag is a colored identifier used to classify clients or devices. Tags are visible in client lists, cards, and client views.
- The administrator creates and manages available tags in the Tags view.
- Caregivers see tags and can attach them to clients but typically do not edit them.
- Devices have their own separate tags (Device Tags).
User-related concepts

| Administrator | User responsible for the organization’s Gillie settings, users, and integrations. |
Artificial Intelligence-related concepts
- AI assessment – e.g., filling out a form template where Gillie suggests scoring or supplements the assessment based on data.
- AI explanations – an open view showing which measurements and notes the AI used to generate a particular alert or recommendation.
Action-related concepts
- Timeline – graphical chronological view of the client’s events and measurements.
- Acknowledgment – caregiver’s response to an alert: Action taken or No action required, plus a free-text comment.
- Change log – event history recorded for every change and view.
